It’s time to nominate your school food hero!
Do you know an inspiring school chef? A food-waste wizard? Or someone who goes above and beyond to make sure our kids are well fed? Then enter them into our Good School Food Awards today, because entries are now open!
We launched the awards last year and the response was incredible. Our 2023 winners are such an inspiring bunch, doing some incredible work up and down the country – read all about them.
And this year we’re going even bigger, celebrating more of the heroes in the LARGEST RESTAURANT CHAIN IN THE UK: the school food system. We’re so excited to launch a brand new award, Joe Wicks’ Food For Fuel award, which champions an outstanding teacher who brings together food and physical activity to create a healthy school environment.
These awards are important because school food matters and the health of our children matters. We know that delivering delicious, nutritious school meals isn’t easy, because often there isn’t the right support or funding, yet there are still amazing people making a real difference to kids all across the UK.
With a workforce of 80,000+ people, the school food system is bigger than the Royal Navy, serving more than 10 million pupils and nearly 5 million meals every day – that equates to about 41 meals per second. And every single one of them is doing a brilliant job.
So if you know someone that is making a difference through school meals, food or sustainability education, or helping kids to be active and well fed in the school day, then nominate them now!
